Spider-Man (Battle Damaged) Comments

Mine seem to be a little tight but not anything to a level that would lead to breakage. 

They moved fine on mine. The knees were pretty stuck though. 

Planning to do anything to the hips to make moving the legs easier?

I will say my disappointment with the figure itself lies with the lackluster battle damaged masked headsculpt. Thank god for etsy and ebay because I found a custom one that looks so much better with more of his face showing.

Just opened mine. I like it. I am glad I didnt pay full price for it though. Only cause the tax for the magic card is ridiculous.

Passed on this one this evening, too..  and you just helped justify my choice with a much better dissertation than I could have ever put out. Thank you!

But they have dropped considerably as expected as more people got the figure and looked to sell the cards. Right now market price for near mint of the Battle damaged promo card is $28. So you are already a little over half of the initial cost if you were to sell the card. That means the figure and accessories then would be $12. That's not a bad deal to be honest. Even with some of the issues with his articulation which can be remedied if you soak him in hot water or modify the ball joints.&nbsp;</p> </div></div> </div>

This was one of the figures I was most looking forward too out of the Magic x Legends crossover. Sadly he falls a bit short. In terms of sculpt? Hasbro has to be given some credit because while this is the same buck as the Renew Your Vows Spidey? They actually did do quite a bit of sculpting to make him 'damaged'. There is some bleed through where you can kind of tell the flesh shifted because of the blue plastic underneath. The problems start when you start to pose the figure.<br><br>He has no neck movement at all. You have a stuck stationary peg and it's kind of disappointing that if Hasbro went to the trouble of new sculpting that they couldn't extend the same care to make a functional neck/ball peg. Especially after the Maximum Spidey. In fact why not just use that maximum spidey as the basis?&nbsp;<br><br>His arms and chest move well enough. But as others noted? The trouble really starts with those legs. If you pick this figure up and feel resistance when trying to move the legs. STOP. You will end up snapping his leg. I recommend going straight to a hot bath of water. Some folks have boiled and popped the legs off and sanded the knobs on that ball joint down to reduce the resistance. Be careful with posing this guy.&nbsp;<br><br>As far as value? You get a few extra hands and a web shield and web line. But is it worth $40? That depends. How much do you want a battle damaged spidey? Do you play Magic? Do you want both? If you want both the figure and the card? I'd say go for it. If you however do not want the card? I recommend selling it to recoup some of the cost which makes him a better value.&nbsp;

I decided to pick this guy up as I could get him at a decent discount stacking some coupons on Target’s app. First impressions, he’s pretty cool looking! He definitely stands out from the other Spider-Men in my collection and will be fun to use for some action shots. I think the damage could have been done differently as the costume is too clean for being as torn up as it is.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>My major complaint right now is the legs, specifically the hips. Holy crap they are right. Everything else moves pretty smoothly but those hips are really tight. Before I do any posing, I’m going to stick him in some hot water &amp; pop his legs off and sand the hips down. I do not mind doing this as I like to mess with stuff in general. However I could see this being a problem for folks that are inclined to take their figure apart.&nbsp;</div>

Having him in-hand myself, I think he looks cool. His face sculpt is damaged (scratches and black eye) and with that head sculpt on and how his suit is damaged it makes for a cool battle scene.&nbsp;

What a thorough review…for some reason I haven’t shipped him yet from BBTS…I thought the damage was a bit underwhelming and it’s really the only reason why I want it….not sure what to do….ship or skip?&nbsp;

something I just noticed is the design on the card has the same damage than the figure.<div><br></div><div>Curious to know which is inspiring the other.</div><div><br></div><div>For me its also a little underwhelming. I would have liked it to be more damaged. Right now it just feels like its mostly reuse and a few new parts</div>

Nice write up. I’m on the fence about getting this one. I dig the look but I agree they could have added an additional head sculpt with a different level of damage. Like half the mask is gone, the lenses are not as busted, etc.&nbsp;

It’s a mix between the design of the battle damage itself and how it all feels a half measure of what could have been. I keep sitting here imagining three separate states of wear and tear heads, each worse than the last. As it stands, the head we have just doesn’t strike me as all that interesting. Hair and a bit of cheek showing… that’s it. Seems pretty minimal. Well, imagine that was just stage one. I keep imagining battle damaged heads inspired by the Raimi Spider-Man movie battle damaged head and the OG Toybiz Spider-Man Classics battle damaged head just in a comic style. The torn mask look would be the Toby one from the final Goblin fight where the mouth and one eye are exposed, the other with the entire lower chin missing with mouth exposed like the old Toybiz toy. I even picture swappable arms with different states of wear. As it stands, the actual rips and torn bits just… aren’t as interesting as l’d have liked, nor does the offering itself reach full potential. Honestly, his head is too masked, IMO. Maybe it’ll grow on me. I somehow think it may. But l can't give this one a solid A like everyone else. I just can't. It gets a B- from me.&nbsp;</div>

But do you think selling the card will reduce the resell value of the figure or do you think you can sell the card by itself for enough to recoup the cost?

I know some people arent thrilled by the extra cost for the promo card. I would say if you dont want the card you can probably sell it and magic players will probably buy it judging by the price on some of the Final Fantasy cards.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>I enjoy both but I feel this was a missed opportunity. If they want people to get into magic? They could have included a few play booster packs or even better? A character themed starter deck.&nbsp;</div>

Guilty of contributing to the high cost…the card tax is a hard pill but this figure will look so good with my Spider-Story…jumped on MJ too 🤦🏻‍♂️

Easy pass for me. The battle damage aspect is appealing but the price for it is not.

I pre-ordered it but honestly it's high on my cancellation list.

15 bucks for the extra card is to much. Its a shame because I would have gotten if it have been 30. Sadly I will have to pass.
