Of all the key villains in the animated DC universe, Scarecrow seems to be the one that they struggled to design the most. Throughout the entire series, from BTAS Season One all the way to The New Batman Adventures, he's had a total of three designs. His initial design only lasted a single appearance, and I always nicknamed it the "sock mask" Scarecrow. He's become almost forgotten, yet it's an excellent episode nonetheless. The second, more definitive BTAS Scarecrow is my go-to, but this third one breaks the standard of TNBA. Many of the redesigns they did were kind of lousy, and while I don't prefer this one either, I do quite like it, unlike others. It's easily the most drastic TNBA alteration in the colorful cast of characters; they look almost nothing alike.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>Scarecrow here has a very Texas hangman look, as if he belongs more in a slasher movie with Leatherface than in Batman. And yet, for me, it works. Those broad shoulders give this appearance of almost a crucifix under there, a mounted scarecrow in a field of corn, and his now updated height does make him more imposing. He's tall, lanky, and broad, with a corpse-like mask...pretty darn effective if you're trying to be the master of fear. But the only reason why I still prefer the second incarnation of the animated Crane to this third and final one is, simply, I feel like this one is almost trying TOO hard to be scary; that would be my nitpick. But as the redesigns go, it's absolutely one of the better, though that isn't too hard to pull off.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>The figure represents what's on screen well enough, but as with any of the releases in this line, it's a dated figure reissued. Limited in articulation already, the trench coat itself just limits it all the more, so don't expect dynamic poses. When viewing this as more of a statue, it's pretty solid, and I'm happy to have it. But what I'm not all too pleased about is that they forgot to include his cane, which this version is always seen with...and was included with the original DC Direct release. Typical McFarlane. Otherwise, he's quality and makes a terrifying addition to any TNBA collection.&nbsp;</div>
