I absolutely loathed this Joker design when it first debuted. Where are his red lips? He looks unfinished, so much so that it's downright distracting. And I just couldn't get past this as a child. It irked me beyond belief, and toss in the fair share of other downgrade redesigns, and I just lost interest by the point of the TNBA transition. <div><br></div><div>But as said in my TNBA review, when I revisited the fourth season (TNBA) years later, it bothered me less and less, and I could see the brilliance in the writing within most of the episodes...even if not in the redesigns themselves. Still not my preference; the lack of lips will always irk me on some level, but I came to a point where I can at least tolerate it. Outside of that, it's an extremely simple design, almost minimalist. But Hamill's Joker, regardless of which incarnation, will always be top-notch, and that's what ultimately got me to swallow this version as acceptable. It's not a bad design; it's just a step backwards from what came before, IMO. If it wasn't for the excellent writing of the character, I may not have wanted this version at all. </div><div><br></div><div>The figure, as with all figures in this line, is a reissue of the DC Direct version. As a result, it comes with those dated flaws, particularly in articulation. But he looks nice standing next to your TNBA Batman, and the real takeaway here would be Bud and Lou, his pet hyenas. It's a quality representation of a questionable, but also ultimately quality, Batman animated show. </div>
