Why were these $95 retail? It'd be cool to get, but why was it $95? Was it a comic con exclusive or something? What's the story here?

I actually scored a Barbie doll version of this two-pack circa 2001. The zip line effect broke almost immediately when trying to pose them and I never revisited trying to collect figures until the 25th Anniversary came out in 2007.
