Absolutely. This may not be anything mindblowing...outside of the fact they just made some of these guys, but it's fun. And isn't that kind of the point? None of these guys will go down on a "Best Of" list, but they're fun obscurities we can say we didn't see coming. I'm hoping that we'll get another set because, as said, there's a bunch more that are pretty prime for this format. Vermin could use the torso and arms from Jackal. Sin-Eater could use the Union Jack body with Cap boots in green. Honestly, I'm shocked Spot hasn't been made yet. He's quite possible the easiest figure ever to make. Carrion can use Sleepwalker and Green Goblin parts. Perhaps a Grizzly could be made from Ursa Major parts. But after this set came out, my mind immediately became racing with "So who else can be made relatively cheaply from the catalogue of already existing molds?" And while, of course, they all need some new tooling...I think these are great options for another Amazon boxed set.

D-list through Z-list Spider-Man villains are always going to raid my wallet.

What an utterly bizarre cornucopia of third and fourth stringers. This set feels almost as if they just had a bunch of names on a dart board and this was the results. It’s relatively obvious why, though, these were picked. They’re easy…albeit not all are necessarily accurate. Razorback is baffling as, to my knowledge, l don’t recall him having much associations with the web head. I could be wrong. The draw, for me, was Molten Man. In the kingdom of losers, C tier is Hollywood fame. He’s the heaviest hitter here…and that’s really saying something. He came out relatively nice, if not a little cheap…but it’s Molten Man. There’s not much to work with. He looks generic by default. Simple designs make for simple action figures, but he’s solidly representing his comic counterpart and is a role l find relevant enough to Spidey history to be the most worthwhile of this lot. Silvermane is lazy reuse of the Ultimate Beetle. It makes for a robotic mob boss that isn’t particularly accurate…but in the realm of this obscure, l suppose close enough is a passable grade. Human Fly is easily the most surprising inclusion. There’s at least six still unmade roles just as easy to produce using existing parts and minimal new tooling that l can think of: Vermin (using the Jackal body), Sin-Eater (using Union Jack), Carrion (using Sleepwalker/Goblin), Spot (using Zero or any blank male buck), Will O’the Wisp (using and mid-build male buck), etc. They’re more well-known and in demand than this guy, but there’s always a degree of charm to getting an utterly obscure lame-o nobody. Or is it just me? I love “I can’t believe they made um” novelty. It would seem the mindset of all of these Amazon boxes sets is three to five easy to produce via existing parts or reissue figures. So much so that, sometimes, they sacrifice accuracy for cost effectiveness. And often they’re dominated by obscure roles. The X-Force set. The Wolverine set. The Venom set. The West Coast Avengers set. There’s a formula. And l’m hoping for more.

I ended up passing on this set, though at the time I was thinking about using human fly to start a custom Venture Bros set.

Silvermane was the main draw for me in this set. There certainly are other Spider-Man villains I would like to have seen but at least the set fills some gaps. And there are certainly better symbiote Spideys available but at least the color almost matches the Monster Venom BAF figure.
