Marvel Legends

How many Marvel Legends figures are there?

The live count of every Marvel Legends release, year by year, from the 2002 Toy Biz waves to the figures Hasbro has announced but not shipped yet.

Short answer

As of November 3, 2026, the Legendsverse checklist counts 1,692 Marvel Legends releases that hold 2,025 figures. A release is one box, so a two-pack counts once but holds two figures. 96 of those are announced and not out yet.

The count today

Marvel Legends is the six-inch Marvel line. Toy Biz started it in 2002, and Hasbro has had it since 2007. Our checklist tries to hold every release, from the first Toy Biz waves to whatever Hasbro revealed last week.

These numbers aren't typed in by hand. The page reads them from the checklist every day, so they move when a new wave gets revealed or a collector sends us a figure we missed. In practice it only goes up.

Releases by year

One row per year. Toy Biz peaks in 2006, the line almost stops in 2010 and 2011, and the bars climb back after Hasbro's 2012 relaunch and stay high.

2022 147
2023 143
2024 108
2025 101
2026 120
2027 14

2025 alone had 101 releases.

About the 14 releases dated before 2002: they aren't Marvel Legends in the strict sense. They're Toy Biz figures like the 2001 Spider-Man Classics, and a lot of collectors shelve them with Legends anyway, so we keep them here.

Why the number depends on how you count

Ask five collectors how many Marvel Legends exist and you'll get five numbers, because each one counts different things:

  • Boxes or figures. A two-pack is one release but two figures, so a figure count always comes out higher.
  • Build-A-Figures. A BAF never has its own box. It's built from parts packed with the rest of the wave, so we count it on its own.
  • Exclusives. Pulse, Target, Walmart, Amazon, GameStop and convention exclusives are real releases, and plenty of lists online skip half of them.
  • Re-releases. When a figure comes back on a retro card, it has a new box, a new UPC and often new accessories. We count it again.
  • Reveals. Hasbro shows figures months before they ship. A list that waits for the store shelf is always behind.
  • Pre-2002 Toy Biz. Some people start at the 2002 launch. Others include the Toy Biz figures right before it.

So when you see a number online, check what's in it. The Legendsverse checklist includes all of the above, and so does the count on this page.

Toy Biz, Hasbro and the gap years

Toy Biz launched Marvel Legends in 2002. Nothing else on the toy aisle had that much articulation back then, and the early waves even came with a comic book in the box. Toy Biz is also where Build-A-Figures started: buy the whole wave, get a giant.

The oldest Build-A-Figure in our checklist is Apocalypse, from 2005.

Hasbro got the Marvel license in 2007. Output dropped after 2008, and by 2010 and 2011 the line had almost stopped while Hasbro put its effort into smaller figures. Then in 2012 Hasbro relaunched Marvel Legends, brought BAFs back, and hasn't slowed down since. Wikipedia has the long version.

The most collected releases

On Legendsverse, the most collected Marvel Legends release is Symbiote Spider-Man (2022). 5,036 collectors have it. The top five, counted from real collections on the site:

  1. Symbiote Spider-Man, 2022: 5,036 collectors
  2. Nightcrawler, 2019: 4,501 collectors
  3. Colossus & Juggernaut, 2019: 4,474 collectors
  4. Rogue, 2020: 4,187 collectors
  5. Doctor Doom, 2019: 3,869 collectors

And the typical Marvel Legends collector on Legendsverse owns 2 of the top 24. Where do you land? Take the shelf check.

To count how many you own, tick them in the Marvel Legends checklist and Legendsverse keeps the count for you. It's free up to 25 figures.

Questions

How many Marvel Legends come out each year?

101 in 2025. The table above has every year since the line started.

Are Toy Biz figures real Marvel Legends?

Yes. Toy Biz created the line and made it from 2002 until Hasbro took over in 2007. The Toy Biz figures from before 2002, like Spider-Man Classics, are a different line that a lot of people keep with Legends.

Does the count include Build-A-Figures?

No, a BAF has no box of its own, so it's counted separately. The checklist has 104 of them. Here's the full Build-A-Figure list.

How do I find the ones I'm missing?

Tick what you own in the Marvel Legends checklist. Whatever's left unticked is your missing list, and you can throw any of it on a wishlist.
